D-Dub Snare ....  getting some detail love....

Clark at Clark's Music Center gave the DW Snare some spa day love and helped me brighten the sound up a to with a new Evans G1 top head and Snare Side 200 bottom head ....

EVANS Power Center Snare Batter Drumhead

In addition to the complete disassemble and detailing of the snare, we also made a couple of changes that really transformed the drum. On the batter side, I replaced an EVANS EC Reverse Dot with an EVANS Power Center coated. The EC is a great head if you want control, durability, and a more focused sound, but I was starting to miss some of the natural openness and snap of a simpler single-ply head. The Power Center brought a lot of that back while still keeping enough focus to avoid things getting too wild.

EVANS Snare Side 200 Drumhead

After a conversation with another drummer hanging out at Clark's Music Center, I also decided to experiment with my snare setup and replaced the EVANS Snare Side 300 with the thinner Snare Side 200. My goal was to brighten the drum up a bit, and it absolutely did the trick. The thinner 2mil head made the snare feel more responsive and lively, with a noticeably crisper snap from the wires. The 300 wasn’t bad by any means—it offered a little more tone control—but the 200 brought back some of that extra sensitivity and sparkle I was after.

More to follow..... Keep On Drumming!!!
